The Future of the Republican Party, What It Stands for and the Future of Our Country are Safe with Me and My Generation!

By Bill Chaffee, Vice Chair of the Cheshire County Young Republicans

As the years pass and we get older, some of you may look at the direction we’re going and start to worry about the future of this party & what it stands for, and ultimately the future of our country.  I am here to make you a promise:  Both are safe with me and with my generation.  It’s true that many of the young people of America aren't even Republicans yet – a lot of them voted for President Obama with an enthusiasm that hasn't been seen in this country since the war effort of the 1940s. The Democrats manipulated the youth with popular musicians, and cell phone technology, relying not on any real message but rather on the fact that the youth are, for lack of a better word, lazy.  They knew they would never look for the man behind the curtain when they had a front man like President Obama, who is as adept at manipulating words as he is at manipulating the crowds.  The Democrats made voting more chic than ordering a skim milk latte from Starbucks.  But we Republicans have a message more powerful then any pop-star or smooth-talking front man can ever deliver, and that message is common sense - We ARE the common sense party.

Soon another generation of youth will graduate from college, move out of their parents’ basement, & get a real job.  That's when they will learn what it means to have to work hard for all the things they want in life.  When the fog of there marijuana smoke finally lifts from their head, they will realize that the "change" they voted for left them holding the bag for the biggest debt in the history of, not just the country, but the world.  They will feel the thirty-two percent plus missing from their paycheck every week – or will it be fifty percent, or seventy-five percent?  They will see all of the unjust social programs they are helping fund which serve only to promote dependence while punishing innovation. They will see this country we call America being sold out to China and the Middle East and they will realize that this country has hit Barak Bottom.

We are fighting two enemies in this country; the first of course, every American knows...  Al Qaeda.  Extremists who hate everything America stands for.  The second is a terrorist more dangerous then that of any Middle Eastern extremist, and this enemy is right here in our own back yard.  Their headquarters is in Washington… they are known as ‘liberals’.  They try to use the Constitution as a blanket to the public, but behind closed doors they are seeking to destroy the very fabric which holds our country together.  They are systematically bringing this country down brick by brick, and dollar by dollar.

I don’t believe we’ve passed the point of no return, but rather I see this as an opportunity – an opportunity to illustrate the problems which have resulted from unrestrained spending and legislation.  Like all problems these can be solved if the desire is there; myself, along with the new generation of Republicans, will do everything in our power to defend America and maintain her reputation as being the best country in history.
